Life On Mars (bp coyle)

As soon as we began observing their world through our telescopes, they hid themselves away. They are a patient and meticulous race, the Martians, they made few mistakes. Of course, there was the whole fiasco with the canals at the very beginning but that was soon rectified. Some of them wanted to act against us once we started to send satellites to orbit them but they remained quiet and in hiding. They were not at all happy when the landers began to arrive and took out any that were in sensitive areas.
However, when the first human set sail for them they had finally had enough. They had tried long and hard to be nice neighbours but those days were over. They uncloaked and armed their massive spacecraft and came to pay us a visit. Without a single word, they took out all of our communications, they wiped out all of our advanced technology. They tried not to kill too many of us, but they didn’t try too hard. Now their ships float in the air above our heads all of the time. No air travel is permitted. We have been confined to our own planet forever.
