Hey John,
How are things mate? Can you believe that it’s three months since I moved away? I finally got myself settled into a flat of my own, my aunt says she’ll miss me but I bet she’s secretly delighted.
It’s in a lovely part of west London, right beside the green belt. On fine evening I walk to a tiny part just a few minutes away. Hardly anyone else seems to use it so there’s always a free bench to sit on. The view is great, trees and fields and undulating hills. Very green. It’s like being well outside of the city.
Right in the middle of it all is the most spectacular viaduct designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. I’m totally in love with it. I must admit, I barely knew who he was until I moved here. I borrowed a biography on him from the library and read it on rainy evenings when I can’t get out. He’s a really cool guy.
Work is going fine. The people are nice if a little standoffish.
I miss you and the lads, say hi to them for me. Hopefully I’ll get back at Christmas.
Take care,
Rick
