The revolution happened so slowly that nobody noticed.
The Make Pluto a Planet Again Party (MPPAP) began running candidates in elections across the world.
The media and the powers-that-be regarded them as cranks. Quacks. Nothing to be taken seriously. Sure they began picking up a seat here and there. It was simply the public expressing their dissatisfaction with both the government and the opposition. The MPPAP was a one issue party, no plans for healthcare, for education, for defense.
They totally underestimated the depth of feeling on the issue. This was something that mattered to people.
Within a decade they were the largest party in most democracies across the world.
They leveraged all their power against the International Astronomical Union to make them reinstate Pluto to its former glory. The scientists refused to budge. Facts could not be altered to suit popular opinion.
The was until their research grants were withdrawn.
The MPPAP was founded by fourteen year old Selina Leandros in her bedroom. A decade later she had become the leader of a party which ruled almost half of the planet.
A strangely unified planet that was once more just one out of nine.
