She was waiting there for me, early for once. I hung back and watched her unnoticed. Damn, she was looking cool. Like really cool. It’s not a word I have ever used when thinking about her before. Janie is not the kind of girl you think about that way. She is fun and clever and sweet. But awkward, clumsy, always looking like she‘s on the verge of apologising for something, for everything. Apologising for being alive.
Now, as she casually flicked the hair out of her eyes and turned the page of her book, she seemed confident, carefree, happy. She looked awesome. Was that because of me I wondered. Had I caused this change in her? Yeah egotistical I know, I get it. I wasn’t thinking it in a bad way. I have been feeling better about myself too since we have been together. Lighter, more self-confident.
Don’t worry, I’m not going to get all soft on you. I won’t say anything about love, because what the hell do I know about it? But it is nice to have someone who believes in you. I do believe in her. And I really think she believes in me too.
