There Once Was A Girl (bp coyle)

There once was a girl, quite a pretty girl, who fell totally in love with a very silly man.

He wasn’t even particularly good looking, this man.

Or wealthy.

Or clever.

Or wise.

Or…

Well, let’s just say he wasn’t much to write home about.

Not much at all

Yet fall in love with him she did, whatever it means to fall in love.

Whatever it means to love.

I can’t tell you.

I’m not a poet, not a philosopher.

I’m not clever or wise.

Truly, madly, deeply in love, that was how she put it.Though she didn’t like the movie of that name, the one with Alan Rickman and Juliet Stevenson. She found it more depressing than romantic.

She didn’t like the ending.

I like the ending.

Anyway, where was I?

Oh yes…

There once as a girl, a very pretty girl, who fell in love with me.

Truly, madly, deeply in love with me.

There once was a girl.

At least I think there once was a girl.

It’s all so long ago now it’s hard to remember it clearly.

I think there once was a girl.

I’m almost sure that there was.
